Wisdom Bahrain Privacy Policy
Last updated: 26 October 2026
1. Who we are
Wisdom Bahrain is the data controller for personal information handled through the Wisdom Bahrain member app, this website (wisdombahrain.org) and related member services. This policy explains what we collect, why we use it, and the choices available to you.
2. Information we collect
We may collect and process:
- Account and membership information: your name, contact details, member number, unit, roles, membership status, profile photo and communication preferences.
- Sign-in information: whether you have verified your email address, and — if you choose Sign in with Google — your Google account's identifier and email address. We receive these from Google only to sign you in; we never see or store your Google password, and you can disconnect Google in your profile at any time.
- Programme and organisation records: registrations, attendance, volunteering, assigned calls, call outcomes, learning activities and membership payments.
- Guest information: information you provide when registering someone for a programme, such as their name, phone number and area.
- App activity and technical information: app opens, screen categories, actions taken, app version, operating system, an app-install identifier, and notification delivery or opening status.
- Notification information: a device notification token supplied by Firebase Cloud Messaging so that we can send notifications to your device.
- Messages you send us: the name, contact details and message you enter in the website's contact form.
Because membership of an Islamic organisation may reveal religious belief, we handle relevant membership information as sensitive personal data under Bahrain’s Personal Data Protection Law.
3. Camera, photos and location
Camera access is used only when you choose to scan an event QR code, take a profile photo or use an image-related feature. A profile photo you choose is uploaded to Wisdom Bahrain. QR camera images are processed for scanning and are not stored.
Location is used only when you choose a feature that needs it. To show the classes nearest to you, approximate location is used on your device to calculate distance and is not sent to the Wisdom Bahrain server. When a meeting checks that members are at the venue, your exact location is sent with that check-in only to confirm you are at the venue; it is not stored.
4. How we use information
We use information to provide and secure membership and sign-in services; operate programmes, attendance, volunteering, learning, communications and member support; send enabled notifications; maintain necessary records; comply with applicable obligations; and improve app and website reliability and features.
5. Analytics and service providers
We use Google Analytics for Firebase to measure general screen and page usage and app performance. Advertising identifiers and ad-personalisation signals are disabled. Firebase may process technical information such as device type, operating system, app instance information and general usage events under Google’s service terms and privacy documentation.
On this website, Google Analytics runs only if you choose Allow on the analytics banner. You can change this by clearing this site’s data in your browser.
We also use Firebase Cloud Messaging to deliver notifications. Information may be processed by Google or its service providers outside Bahrain, subject to their contractual and security safeguards.
We do not sell personal information and do not use it for behavioural advertising.
6. Who can access information
Access is limited according to organisational responsibilities. For example, authorised unit secretaries can access members of their unit, authorised callers see details needed for assigned calls, and authorised administrators manage the service. Information may also be disclosed when required by law or when necessary to protect users, Wisdom Bahrain or the service.
7. Retention
- Detailed app activity records held by Wisdom Bahrain are retained for 90 days. App installation and last-seen information is retained while needed to operate and support the member app.
- Guests who never attend are normally removed after 12 months.
- Call notes are normally removed after 24 months.
- Notification tokens are retained while the relevant device remains registered.
- Membership and organisational records are retained while needed for membership administration, legitimate organisational purposes and applicable legal obligations.
Records are deleted or anonymised when no longer required.
8. Security
The app and website send information over encrypted HTTPS connections. Access is restricted through member authentication and role-based controls. No electronic service can guarantee absolute security, but we use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards appropriate to the information handled.
9. Your rights and choices
Subject to Bahrain’s Personal Data Protection Law (Law No. 30 of 2018), you may ask to access, correct, obtain a copy of, object to certain processing of, or delete your personal information.
Members can download their data or request deletion from their profile. You can also disable camera, location or notification permissions in device settings, although the related features may stop working.
10. Children
The app is intended for authorised Wisdom Bahrain members and invited users. A parent or guardian who believes that a child’s information has been provided without appropriate authority should contact us so that we can review and, where appropriate, delete it.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the app, the website, our practices or legal requirements change. The updated version and date will be displayed here. Where required, we will ask members to review and accept material changes.
12. Contact us
For privacy questions or requests, contact Wisdom Bahrain through wisdombahrain.org/contact or email contact@wisdombahrain.org. Please do not include passwords or other unnecessary sensitive information in your request.
